Preschool dan Kebijakan Pemerintah untuk Belajar di Rumah

Sebagai seorang fasilitator pendidikan yang bergerak di bidang pendidikan anak usia dini, cukup was-was dengan bertambahnya jumlah 'suspect' Corona. Salah satunya adalah anak berusia tiga tahun. Mengingat anak usia dini yang belum genap lima tahun rentan sakit karena sistem imun yang belum kuat. Artinya, harus ada pengawasan ekstra dari orang-orang terdekat untuk melindungi si kecil.

Kebijakan untuk mengontrol angka penderita Corona yang semakin hari semakin bertambah dengan mengganti kegiatan belajar dan mengajar di sekolah menjadi di rumah, menurut hemat saya adalah langkah preventif yang baik. Mengutip penyataan dari Bung Anies, upaya yang dilakukan haruslah proporsional dan optimal. Dengan melihat kejadian yang dialami negara tetangga, Indonesia, khususnya Jakarta dan sekitarnya dapat melakukan self-quarantine lebih dini dan secara sukarela.

Lalu bagaimana dengan sekolah-sekolah anak usia dini yang mengusung kurikulum yang menitikberatkan pada cara belajar 'Direct Learning' dan 'Active Learning'?

Secara garis besar (dan menurut hemat saya), sekolah yang mengusung 'Direct Learning' masih dapat mengobservasi perkembangan anak didiknya dengan mengirimkan 'worksheet' pada anak didik sesuai fokus masing-masing, misalnya matematika, membaca, menulis, dan lain sebagainya. Setelah sekolah kembali aktif, 'worksheet' ini akan dinilai berdasarkan kemampuan masing-masing anak.

Lalu bagaimana dengan 'Active Learning'? Saya pribadi cukup khawatir dengan keterbatasan observasi anak-anak karena harus dilakukan perhari. Tujuannya untuk mendapatkan hasil observasi yang lebih 'update' baru kemudian dicatat dalam bentuk anekdot. Kalau kegiatan belajar (bermain - karena tugas utama anak adalah bermain) dilakukan di rumah, bagaimana mungkin saya dapat melihat perkembangan belajar anak?

Setelah beberapa kali mencatat kemungkinan terburuknya, saya teringat dengan kegiatan 'recall' yang menjadi salah satu bagian dari 'daily routine' di kelas. Benar saja, observasi masih tetap berlajut melalui bekal 'recall'. Kegiatan ini tentu masih dapat memenuhi kebutuhan observasi yang mencakup 'Approach to Learning', 'Emotional and Social Development', dan lain sebagainya. Jadi ketika anak masuk sekolah, kebutuhan observasi yang sempat kosong selama kurang lebih dua minggu dapat terpenuhi. Mudah-mudahan dapat saya laksanakan dengan baik :)

The Essence of Learning New Things Every Day

Everyone basically has opportunities to learn something new every day. They learn to get a new skill or to let go of what doesn't belong to them. The cycle comes and goes. Learning something new is not only a shortcut to improve one's life, but also to make one's meaningful, and their presence could make the simplest form of change.  I was once asked about the skills I have other than teaching. I confidently responded to them that I have enough skills in writing, photography, and cooking. While doing my responsibilities in the class, I value the three areas will be beneficial for me in professionalism. I have unlimited resources to access them if one day, I could only choose one area to support me for a living.  As an individual who has to make a move every day, I see learning as a potential way that brings us to become more selfless. A One Year-Old Bonding

I was having a brief and light conversation with my boyfriend about how to create more memorable stories, create sparks in our relationship, and make better plans for our future. What I deeply appreciate about him is that he never ceases making plans for us as if he knows exactly where we're going, the potential issues we are going to face, how to cope with hard conversations, and many more. Reassurance, emotional support, and acts of service speak louder than just words. In lieu of the conversation, we had opposite points of view on how we would build healthy relationships and bondings in marriage while each of us is trying our best to achieve our goals.
