Work Health Balance

It was so yesterday that the Coach at the gym inquired me about my digestive system, since I quite often skipped some trainings, unless the cardio one. I had GERD and it came without telling me a signal it was about to come to say hello to me. I promised myself that in one term, means 3 months, I won't taste GERD at all especially in this term, I tried to manage my diet to be better. My objective is not to lose weight, but to battle and heal from GERD gradually.

I was amazed by the result since I followed my Coach's advice in maintaining what I have to eat with less rice and started to consume more of food with complex carbohydrates, such as cassava. And not to forget mentioning the stress regulation is as significant as maintaining my physical health...........until last afternoon to evening. I had a rendezvous with a friend in a restaurant. I ordered spicy food and it's too hot, steamed hazelnut milk tea, and several desserts containing chocolate. A perfect combo. Why? It's been a long time I didn't eat food that challenged me lol. Please don't try this wherever you are.

It didn't take long till my tummy reacted, and it was terribly paining. At midnight, I instantly got diarrhea. I couldn't sleep well. The toilet must hate me and I could feel it. It's like I set fire in my abdomen and it screamed out loud. Oh Lord, help me out. For emergency, I supposed to ring my Mum or my baby K, but for sure they're still hitting the sack and enjoying their nice dream. The very first thing I remember was that I needed to hold on till morning and drank more water. I did it Alhamdulillah.

Only this afternoon I finally put myself together, gaining strength to eat better. I actually had a class today at the gym, again I cancelled. These are what I ate from breakfast to dinner. Did I order food online? Nope, I prepared everything by myself. Yesterday I couldn't control what I ate, today I was in charge to take care of me.

First was my breakfast. I cooked nasi goreng with fried tuna. The ingredients for nasi goreng are rice, an egg, minced onions and shallots, chopped celery (herbs), minced ginger, salted soy bean, fish sauce, salt, and mushroom bouillon, olive oil. For fried tuna, marinate first the tuna with self-made mayonnaise and Worcestershire sauce in 30 mins. I didn't deep fry it, just fried with very little amount of olive oil. Anw, speaking about nasi goreng, my baby K would call it Jollof rice. And I enjoyed eating Jollof rice too.

For lunch, I cooked nasi goreng again with different ingredients. What I need were rice, anchovies, fish meatballs, leunca berries (starting green and ripening to dark purple, when you cooked them, imagine you ate berries taste like aubergine with grassy and herbal hints), minced shallots and onions, minced ginger, fish sauce, salted soy bean, salt, mushroom bouillon, and fermented shrimp paste. Tasted yummy? No doubt. I started to feel better and smile!

Before eating my dinner, baby K made a phone call to make sure my health improves. I asked him what he ate. He had rice with chicken stew (one of his fav foods), eggs, and plaintain. Thanks to baby K who inspired me to cook my dinner a bit different than I had. So, I prepared rice. The side dishes are egg stew and plaintain as well. For the stew, I prepared 2 eggs, 2 tomatoes, onions, galangan (herb in ginger family), Indonesian bay leaves, fish sauce, salt, and mushroom bouillon. I added 50 ml of water to make the stew moist. This time i still cook by using olive oil. What about the plaintain? Yup I fried it with 1 tbs of olive oil. Alhamdulillah, so which of the favors of your Lord you would deny? After eating my dinner, I suddenly wanna eat chicken nuggets. The fact it's one of processed foods tamed my eating desire to buy one.

It might sound complex to prepare, but it's actually manageable. I hope you guys having a great day today, having more laughters than tears and more ups than downs. I will rest now since I need to wake up early for  tomorrow's activities. Let us take care of ourselves with love and affection, patience and commitment. Insya Allah.

Choices

There will always be the first time for everyone. The first time to hear, the first time to feel, the first time to move, the first time to breathe and cry, the first time to drink, the first time to eat, the first time to respond, the first time to play, the first time to play together and solve the very own problem, the first time to enter school, the first time to teach, the first time to talk and engage with numerous audience, the first to be and do anything. . .till it becomes one day. . .the thing that was hard and challenging, could become a piece of cake. It takes courage, it takes sweat and tears, it takes sleepless nights, it takes restless days, it takes commitment, it takes everything. Maybe it takes your happiness away either. It may seem scary and it may seem crazy. It requires self and stress management. I always have choices amongst these options. I commence to reflect. Back then, I love to  compare people, wether it would be worth it or not at all. I compare A to B...

The Most Precious Thing

To my fiancé, thank you for being a strong man even when hard times still hit that hard. Your 'cegil' is so proud of you. Dear Dadda K, to be with you has taken me to love myself more. Thank you for being gentle and listening to me and us. I have never felt less as a woman because I finally found my real power. Through the peaks and valleys, through the lengthy journey, I do believe the right train will never pass us by. In this horse year, let's be more kind to each other. Let kindness be the beginning of our story. Dear Daddy K, there were moments I might be afraid of losing us. The worries somehow spiraling. At the end I have to decide and take an action of not letting the hassle consuming me more. The peace, positivity, and tenderness are greater. This morning I looked at myself through the mirror. I asked, "who is this girl I see?" It instantly brought me back to you. I am loved, and your actions are the living proof. It's not only a love letter. I wrote ...

The Awakening of New Energy

This one week, my mind buzzed. I know I had a lot to express. I always feel the urge to talk to people and barely know when to stop. I love creating world with words. Words are playground to me. Sometime I could slide, hop, roll forward, slither, or simply sit and watching people passing by. It's not a bout fun, but it's the awareness of creating more and more. I will try to invest 1 hour each day to write, to think, to get lost, to be found, to express, and write again. Over and over. I hope there will be more people connect and read me. Insya Allah 🤍
